What is the One Piece Trading Card Game (TCG)?
Before beginning our One Piece card set list, we must take a brief trip down memory lane.
One Piece has existed for over 25 years, telling the epic saga of Luffy and his crew of pirates. The trading card game was crafted as a love letter to the wondrous world of One Piece, featuring old and new artwork paired with intricate mechanics that let you strategize your way to glory.
Overview of One Piece
Since 1997, the One Piece manga has remained on top of the popularity charts. The manga recently completed its 1100th chapter.
The journey started with Monkey D. Luffy and his crew of ‘Straw Hat Pirates’ on a quest to cement Luffy’s place as the King of the Pirates. Since embarking on that journey, Luffy and his friends have fought fearsome foes, explored unknown lands, and gathered legendary treasures.
The heart-pumping action and sense of adventure that One Piece inspires make for an unforgettable experience for manga readers and anime watchers. With plenty of content, One Piece is home to iconic characters, settings, and treasures that serve as the ideal base for a trading card game.
How the Trading Card Game Works
The One Piece TCG was established 25 years after the manga was first released, which gives it a unique feel compared to other games like Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh that released almost concurrently with their manga and anime.
The One Piece card game set list releases are chock full of iconic characters. The rich history of One Piece allows for several art styles, from classic manga styles to modern anime designs and even card game-exclusive pictures.
At its core, the One Piece TCG works similarly to other card collector games–you fight a one-on-one battle, looking to reduce your opponent’s life points to zero and emerge victorious as King of the Pirates.
Unlike the epic journey Luffy has been on, your path to victory will be much simpler. You’ll create a deck from 5 unique card types: Leaders, Characters, Events, Stages, and Don!! Cards.
From there, you’ll need to plan out your strategy carefully.
In our opinion, the best way to learn the game is to start playing, and you’ll need a solid set of cards to get you started. So, how many One Piece TCG sets are there?
There are 8 in total, which we’ll be exploring in the next section’s One Piece TCG set list.
How Many One Piece TCG Sets Are There? Unpacking the Complete One Piece Card Game Set List
Since the game’s release in December 2022, we’ve already seen 8 full set releases. It’s clear that, just like the manga, the TCG is no stranger to releasing plenty of content.
As such, it can be tricky to determine which sets you should begin your journey with, but that’s where our One Piece TCG set list comes in.
Romance Dawn (OP-01)
The inaugural set of the TCG is packed with popular characters and iconic moments. From villains like King of the Beast Pirates and Alvida of the Buggy Pirates to events like Usopp’s Green Star Rafflesia, you’ll relive famous moments from the series' first arc.
The set features multi-colored leader cards like the red-green Trafalgar Law (002), giving you plenty of flexibility in deck building.
Paramount War (OP-02)
Paramount War took the initial success of the Romance Dawn set and expanded on it. The set introduced the new black color into the game, with popular characters like Monkey.D.Garp (115) and Donquixote Rosinante.
Paramount War also features FILM cards of Straw Hat Crew members like Monkey.D.Luffy (041) or Nico Robin (037).
Pillars of Strength (OP-03)
Like Paramount War, Pillars of Strength introduces another new color: yellow. This includes characters from the Big Mom Pirates like Charlotte Pudding (112) and Charlotte Prospero. These cards and event cards, like Buzz Cut Mochi, help you find the necessary cards and gain an advantage in battles.
We can’t forget about the Whitebeard Pirates, including Marco (013), who can knock out an opposing card upon entering the field to set up powerful combos.
Kingdoms of Intrigue (OP-04)
The Kingdoms of Intrigue arc features hotly contested battles between various factions vying for control. The deck combines powerful Don!! Cards with iconic characters like Boa Hancock (SP), Sabo (Manga Art), and Magellan (SP) give you new ways to KO opponents.
All leader cards in this deck are multi-colored, like Don Quixote Doflamingo and Crocodile (58).
Awakening of the New Era (OP-05)
Released in time for the TCG’s one-year anniversary, Awakening of the New Era features new mechanics like GEAR5 and characters from Skypia and the Revolutionary Army.
Many of the characters from Romance Dawn have new manga illustration cards, like Nami (SP), Monkey.D.Luffy (119), Eustass”Captain”Kid (Manga), and Trafalgar Law (069) (Manga). Adding these iconic Straw Hat Crew members is an excellent way to round out any collection.
Wings of the Captain (OP-06)
Wings of the Captain is full of flair. You’ll find plenty of iconic captains and crewmembers within, including Rebecca (SP), Ms. All Sunday (SP), Perona (021), and Roroanoa Zoro (118).
These cards often have multiple effects, like Rebecca’s ability to deflect attacks and summon black cards from your hand.
500 Years In The Future (OP-07)
500 Years in the Future is a wonderful homage to the Egghead arc, set in a distant future where a new generation of adventures rises to the fray. You’ll be able to harness the legacy of characters like Monkey.D.Luffy (109), Boa Hancock (051) (Manga), and Sanji (Parallel)
Two Legends (OP-08)
Two Legends is the latest One Piece TCG expansion released in Japan in May 2024. It features a “Legends” mechanic centered around powerful characters like Whitebeard and Silvers Rayleigh.
The English version will be released in September 2024, but you can get your hands on iconic cards from this set by investing in a One Piece OP-08 Two Legends Japanese Booster Box.

We recommend staying on top of the competitive meta by copying and adapting competitive deck lists to your play style. You can take those same strategies into your games by watching matches played at the highest level.
